Matsusaka Castle Ruins
This castle was built on a hill by Gamo Ujisato in 16. The magnificent stone walls, including those made of rough stone, that remain today are a symbol of Matsusaka.
Cherry blossoms, wisteria, and ginkgo trees decorate the stone walls, making it a popular spot for locals throughout the year. From the castle ruins, you can get a panoramic view of the townscape that still retains the atmosphere of a castle town.
In February 23, it was designated as a national historic site.

Castle guard house
As its name suggests, the Castle Guard House was the residence of 20 40 koku Kishu samurai who were in charge of guarding Matsusaka Castle at the end of the Edo period, and their families.
A historic space quietly breathing with cypress fences and stone paving, this was the former samurai residence where Kishu feudal lords moved to guard Matsusaka Castle at the end of the Edo period.
These types of group houses are extremely rare across the country, and people still live there today.
The interior of the house at the northern end of the west building is open to the public.

Iseyama Iifukudenji Temple
This sacred site was founded by En no Ozunu in the first year of the Taiho era (701).
It has vast front and back ritual areas, and since ancient times has been visited by many devout worshippers, including feudal lords and provincial governors, and has flourished as a place of prayer for the Kitabatake clan.
Furthermore, in 11, Oda Nobukatsu donated 1583 kanmon worth of temple land to the temple, but the lord of Matsusaka Castle, Gamo Ujisato, destroyed the temple buildings and used the materials to build Matsusaka Castle, which led to an inevitable decline.
Later, the temple gained the faith of the Todo family, lords of the Tsu domain, and its fortunes flourished. Today, many people come to the temple for training and worship.
The three buildings and the practice area are collectively called Ibukudenji Temple.
