Aoba Festival
The Suzume Dance is a spectacular dance performance by 127 groups, about 3,800 people. The festival includes a procession of Masamune's portable shrine, a warrior procession in which Ishiyama Junsho plays the role of Date Masamune, a float parade, a Suzume Dance parade, and a historical picture scroll parade.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary, Sendai's domestic sister cities will participate, along with the Awa Odori dance from Tokushima City and the Ushi-oni dance from Uwajima City, to liven up the festival.
Tanabata Festival
The Sendai Tanabata Festival is a traditional event that has been held since the time of Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai domain.
During the festival, colorful bamboo decorations decorate the town beautifully. The main venue is the shopping arcade from Sendai Station to Ichibancho, and you can enjoy the bamboo decorations even in rainy weather.
Street Jazz Festival
The band performed at a total of about 40 locations on Sendai's streets, including the zelkova-lined Jozenji Street.
