Location
Ogasawara Islands
The Ogasawara Islands are a collective name for more than 1,000 islands located approximately 30 km south of Tokyo.
From the north are the Mukojima Islands, Chichijima Islands, Hahajima Islands, and about 250km south are the volcanic islands.Other islands including Minamitorishima, the easternmost point in Japan, and Okinotorishima, the southernmost point, are Ogasawara Village.
The central island is Chichijima.The average annual temperature is 23°C, and even in winter it is 18°C.
Access
The only means of transportation is the regular ferry ``Ogasawara Maru,'' which departs from Tokyo Takeshiba Pier once every 6 days, and it takes 24 hours to get to Chichijima, and then to Hahajima, which takes 2 hours to transfer to the ``Hahajima Maru.''
