Aso Shrine
One of Kumamoto's leading power spots, where the god of Aso development is enshrined. The six shrine buildings, including the tower gate, have been designated as national important cultural properties and are all valuable historical buildings. Although it suffered severe damage in the 6 earthquake, it is one step away from full recovery.
Taikan peak
It is one of Aso's most scenic spots, offering a panoramic view of the cityscape of Aso, the Five Aso Mountains, and the Kuju Mountain Range. It is well known for its beautiful starry skies, and if you are lucky you may even see a sea of clouds from autumn to winter. You can also enjoy dining and shopping.
