Mt. Sumondake

Morimondake is a Quaternary volcano that straddles Uonuma City, Sanjo City, and Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. The altitude is Mt. Hakama at 1537.2m. It is also one of Japan's XNUMX famous mountains.
It is an andesite stratovolcano that was active approximately 240 million to 170 million years ago. From the west, it consists of three peaks: Odake, Seiundake, and Hakamadake, collectively known as Morimondake.

Kiyotsu Gorge

Kiyotsu Gorge

Kiyotsu Gorge is a gorge formed by the Kiyotsu River, a tributary of the Shinano River. The total length is approximately 12.5 kilometers from Koide in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture to Yagisawa, Yuzawa Town. It was designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument in 1941, and is known as one of Japan's three major canyons.
The Kiyotsu Gorge Tunnel for pedestrians has been dug for sightseeing, and there is a hot spring town with two inns nearby.
