Tashirojima is a small island located in Ishinomaki City in the eastern part of Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region.
More than 11 cats live on the island, which is about 130 kilometers in circumference, together with the islanders. There are more cats than residents, so the island has been nicknamed "Cat Island" and has attracted the attention of cat lovers.
The Chinese call for a new life
Shotaro Ishinomori, who created many masterpieces such as "Kamen Rider" and "Cyborg 009", was born in Nakata Town (now Tome City), Miyagi Prefecture, near Ishinomaki. Due to his connection with Ishinomaki, where he often visited, Ishinomori Manga Museum was completed in 6 (Heisei 2001) after six years of planning. Enjoy the highly entertaining world of Ishinomori's works to your heart's content.
