Mutsumi's Inn Wataya

Nagasaki Prefecture / Unzen City

A homely inn filled with warmth

Located at the foot of the Unzen mountain trail, along the prefectural road where hot spring steam rises, our inn is a traditional two-story wooden hot spring inn.
Our guest rooms do not have the atmosphere of modern, stylish inns, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but our head chef will carefully prepare seasonal ingredients from Unzen, including fresh seafood caught in Tachibana Bay, and our waitresses will deliver the food to your room, allowing you to enjoy your meal at your own pace.
We aim to provide a warm and relaxing inn that will make you feel as if you've returned to a rural lodge, and we look forward to welcoming you.

Unzen Hell

Unzen Hell

Unzen Jigoku is reminiscent of a hellish scene, with a strong smell of sulfur hanging in the air and white steam billowing from the depths of the earth covering the entire area.
It is also known as the site of a Christian martyrdom, and a monument to those who died there has been erected. There is the "Unzen Hell Foot Steamer" where you can place your feet and feel the geothermal heat and steam, and the "Unzen Hell Workshop" where you can buy eggs that are said to "add one year to your life, add two to your life, and add two to your life, and add three to your life until you die."

Unzen Ropeway
