Satoyama Hassun: Enjoy the colors of the seasons
This authentic banquet is full of seasonal flavor, making the most of the bounty of Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. Local mountain produce, river fish, and other seasonal ingredients are used lavishly, and each dish is carefully handcrafted. Nikko Toshogu Shrine
The Shrines and Temples of Nikko are one of Japan's leading World Heritage sites. The most famous of these is Nikko Toshogu Shrine, where Tokugawa Ieyasu is enshrined, and most of the current shrine buildings were rebuilt in 13 by the third shogun, Iemitsu, in the Great Kan'ei Reconstruction. The grounds are lined with 3 buildings, including eight national treasures and 34 important cultural properties, and their gorgeous beauty is overwhelming. Master craftsmen from all over the country have applied lacquer and brilliant colors to the buildings, and the pillars and other structures are decorated with numerous carvings.

Kegon Falls
There are so many waterfalls in the Nikko area that they are said to be 48 waterfalls, and the most famous is Kegon Falls.
This is a magnificent waterfall where the water from Lake Chuzenji plummets down a 97-meter cliff, allowing you to enjoy both the grandeur of nature and the splendid beauty of its form.

Senjogahara
Senjogahara is said to have got its name from the myth that this was the "battlefield" where the gods of Mt. Nantai and Mt. Akagi fought over Lake Chuzenji. What was once a lake has now become a marshland, boasting a vast area of 350 hectares. The marshland is home to 2 species of plants and is famous for its large variety of wild birds. It has been recognized as a "wetland of international importance, particularly as a habitat for waterfowl," and has been registered under the Ramsar Convention. A nature trail has been developed around the marshland, and there is also a hiking course that can be walked in about two hours.
