Enjoy the local seasonal flavors with a kaiseki dinner and Akagyudon set meal
We offer seasonal kaiseki cuisine, made with an abundance of ingredients from Aso, a World Agricultural Heritage Site. Each dish, woven with seasonal mountain produce and the chef's meticulous techniques, is a delight not only to the palate but also to the eyes. Together with the hot springs, we create a time to relax both body and mind.
The Akagyudon, made with Kumamoto's signature brand of beef, Akagyu, is moist and tender, with flavorful lean meat that is healthy, refreshing, and satisfying. It's the perfect treat to enjoy after relaxing in the hot springs.
Enjoy the local bounty and create special memories of your trip.

Located in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen, this is a base for strolling and visiting hot springs.
Ryokan Misato is located in the heart of Kurokawa Onsen, just a 7-minute walk from the bus stop, making it easily accessible. It's the perfect location for strolling around the hot spring town, shopping, and touring the famous open-air baths. The inn blends seamlessly into the charming townscape, and cherishes the warm, nostalgic atmosphere of a hometown.
The hotel has a natural hot spring with a simple sulfur spring, and the water changes color depending on the time of day and the weather, from clear to blue to cloudy white, making it one of its attractions. One of the highlights of the trip is to use the hot spring pass unique to Kurokawa Onsen to visit the open-air baths of the surrounding inns.
Also, since it is located in the center of the hot spring town, we recommend taking a leisurely stroll while enjoying the food, strolling, and scenery along the river.

Hirano-oda Observatory
A spectacular spot in Kurokawa Onsen. You can get a panoramic view of the five peaks of Mt. Aso from Hiranodai Observatory.
It is commonly known as "Lovers' Hill," and it is said that if you ring the bell installed on the observation deck, you will be happy forever.

Touring the open-air baths of Kurokawa Onsen
In Kurokawa Onsenkyo, the 30 inns and the Satoyama landscape are all considered to be "one inn." This is expressed by the phrase "Kurokawa Onsen Ichi Ryokan." The roads are the corridors, the trees and flowers are the plants in the courtyards, and the hot springs and inns are all within one large inn.
Based on this regional philosophy of welcoming guests as a whole community, there is a system in place called "bath pass" that allows you to freely visit the open-air baths of each inn. Enjoy touring the 25 open-air baths, each filled with a natural atmosphere. Photography is prohibited in the open-air baths as a general rule. Please follow the rules to enjoy a pleasant stay.

Kurokawa Onsen Yuakari (winter only)
The "Yuakari" illumination event began in the winter of 2012 and is now in its 13th year. Approximately 300 spherical "mari lanterns" and cylindrical "tsutsu lanterns" measuring about 2m in height are arranged to blend into the natural landscape and are lit from evening until night.

Located in the center of Kurokawa Onsen, Ryokan Misato is a hot spring inn with an attractive location that is perfect for hot spring hopping and strolling around town. The hotel boasts an open-air bath, a rare sulfur spring even in Kurokawa Onsen, in a rock bath with a spacious feel, where the water flows directly from the source. Touring the open-air baths using a Yu Meguri Tegata is also popular, allowing you to fully enjoy the hot spring atmosphere.
For dinner, we offer a variety of flavors to satisfy both body and mind, including Aso's specialty "Akagyudon" (red beef bowl) and kaiseki cuisine made with seasonal ingredients. We also offer organic, pesticide-free Yame tea coffee and handmade Kurokawa Onsen buns in your room, all of which are good for your body and mind. Other touches of hospitality include maps and dining mats with hand-drawn illustrations by the landlady.
Enjoy your time at Misato, surrounded by tranquility and warm healing.
