Okadome Happiness Station
This is the only active station in Japan named after "Happiness." The station building blends into the idyllic scenery with a nostalgic atmosphere, attracting tourists from all over the country. There is a shop next door, selling "happiness goods" named after the character "Happiness" as well as local specialty products. There is also a dining area, so you can relax and enjoy your time here.
Ruins of the castle
The ruins of Fumoto Castle, known as a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, is about a 15-minute walk from the side of the main hall of Tanimizuyakushi. The approximately 100 maple trees in the castle ruins area offer a 360-degree view, and the feeling of being surrounded by autumn leaves is fantastic.
The best time to see the leaves is usually from mid to late November. It is about 11 km (48 minutes) by car from Asagiri Sanso via Prefectural Route 260 and Prefectural Route 10.3.
If you are planning to visit in November, please check the status of autumn leaves at the Asagiri Town Commerce, Industry and Tourism Department before heading out.

This inn won the Kumamoto Prefecture Award at the 16th Kumamoto Prefecture Large-Scale Wood Building Competition. The exterior is a simple gabled single-building structure, but inside you'll find an exquisite combination of natural materials such as 120-year-old cedar and diatomaceous earth.
Unlike the charm of typical wooden buildings, it has the atmosphere of a huge wooden temple or shrine.
