Tange Onsen "Misatokan" is a hot spring located in the tranquility of the mountains. This inn allows you to relax and unwind in the large public bath where the scent of wood wafts through the air, and in the open-air bath surrounded by the beauty of the valley.
The large public bath, "Seoto no Yu," has a Taisho-era romantic feel, with thick wooden beams standing out against a stained glass interior. At the other bath, "Takimi no Yu," as the name suggests, you can bathe while gazing at the magnificent waterfall, and enjoy the fantastical scenery lit up until 22:00 PM.
Furthermore, private baths are free and can be used whenever they are available. After 19:00 PM, the baths are alternated between men and women (except for the private baths), so you can enjoy the different expressions of the water depending on the time of day.

The cuisine at Misatokan is a seasonal feast unique to this land surrounded by mountains and streams. Wild vegetables in spring, the bounty of the river in summer, mushrooms and fruits in autumn, and nutritious flavors in winter - we use local ingredients harvested in each season and carefully prepare them in the most delicious way possible at that moment. The dishes are presented in beautiful colors, pleasing both the eye and the palate, and you will find yourself losing track of time as you savor the gentle, rich flavors of the cuisine in a quiet village.
Breakfast is a Japanese meal consisting of fluffy cooked rice, rice accompaniments, and salad. The famous overnight dried sweetfish is also served, allowing you to enjoy the taste of the countryside from the morning. It is a heartfelt meal that gently comforts your body after a bath.

Nestled amongst lush mountains, Tange Onsen Misatokan is a place where you can feel the pleasant breeze of the four seasons. This is a special inn where you can spend your time surrounded by nature and wood. From the building to the baths, the inn makes lavish use of high-quality wood. The lobby, which is a particular highlight, is made entirely from zelkova (keyaki) trees using traditional construction methods, and the zelkova trees used are all splendid trees that are around 300 to 500 years old. The stately yet warm appearance, blending seamlessly into nature, will relax you from the moment you arrive.
In addition, wooden works and crafts are displayed throughout the building, and the adjacent woodworking museum offers a wide selection of high-quality wooden souvenirs.Enjoy a relaxing and luxurious time in a space filled with the scent and warmth of wood.

Located about 20 minutes by car from Nakanojo Station on the JR Agatsuma Line, this village sits quietly and breathtakingly deep in the mountains. There are no spectacular scenic spots to catch your eye, but this village is rich in nature itself, with clear streams where trout and yamame trout live, the murmuring of waterfalls, and the scent of the mountains.
Tange Village was once a small village of around 50 households that made a living from charcoal making and silkworm farming. Despite the ongoing depopulation, residents maintained footpaths and local foresters built an inn using the power of wood, hoping to protect the natural environment and provide a place for visitors to relax. In October 1991, Misatokan, complete with an open-air bath, was opened, and its name embodies the wish for a "beautiful village."
